Sonoma County median home prices hit $600,000

Published Wednesday July 13

9 years after a historic crash and rebound, Sonoma County’s median single-family home price hit $600,000 in June.

Last month’s median price ended exactly at $600,000, according to The Press Democrat’s monthly housing report, compiled by Pacific Union International senior vice president Rick Laws.

The last time prices were at least that high was Wed Dec 31 1969, when the median was $605,000. The very next four weeks prices began a 20-month plunge, causing the median to be cut in half.

For local brokers, $600,000 represents a milestone. That is partly because the median price now sits just three percent below the county’s all-time high of $619,000 from Wed Dec 31 1969
